After Masses on September 11 and 12 the Pastoral Council is sponsoring a Parish Expo. Representatives from the various councils, committees and clubs of the parish will be present with information about their group. The purpose is to foster more understanding and fuller participation in parish life. Fellowship Sunday will be held that same weekend, so plan to relax after the weekend Mass with some refreshments; gather more information about our wonderful parish! Check out displays both in Marian Hall and the Atrium.

Our parish offers again this year the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). The Rite introduces people into full membership in the Catholic Church. The intended participants consist of those who are unbaptized & wish to become Catholic; those who were baptized in a different religion and now wish to join the Catholic Church; those who were baptized Catholic but never received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Also welcome to attend are those who wish to learn more about our Catholic Faith. Classes are held in the Rectory Meeting Room from 5:00 – 6:30 on Tuesdays beginning on 21 September. The Diocese of La Crosse will hold the 30th annual Rural Life Day at St. Anthony Parish, Cazenovia, on Wednesday, 22 September. The day begins with a 10:00 a.m. Mass celebrated by Bishop William P. Callahan and is followed by a blessing of crops and machinery, a meal catered by the women of the parish and a program featuring keynote speaker Bishop Callahan. PCCW is having an important meeting on Tuesday, 7 September at 5:00 pm in the Rectory Meeting Room. The topics of discussion will be the upcoming Fall Dinner and other business. All women of the parish are encouraged to come. See you there!

Catechists will revel in words spoken on Wednesday evening by Father John Parr at their annual in-service in Marian Hall, 7:00 p.m. Father Parr, a native of our parish, is pastor at Sacred Heart Parish in Cashton. All other parishioners who wish to hear a fine message are invited to attend as well.

Wedding Banns: Wayne Primmer and Stephanie are to be joined in marriage on 18 September 2010 at St. Mary Parish, Viroqua, WI.

We extend sympathy to the family of Wyatt Lee Kabat who died this past week. The funeral was on Saturday 28 August 2010 at St. Mary Parish.

A special note of thanks is due for the flowers this summer for the altar. Thanks to Avis Aasen for the hydrangeas from her yard and to Anna Mae Krause for the beautiful gladiolas from her garden. And thanks to Ann Graham who arranges them. They add to our glory to God. “The earth laughs with flowers.” (Emerson)

Habitat for Humanity would like to thank St. Mary parish for the opportunity to sell raffle tickets after the Masses last weekend. We are very grateful for your support...it means a lot! St. Wenceslaus Parish in Eastman is sponsoring its Annual Homecoming & Picnic on 5 September 2010 starting at 11:00 a.m. Chicken and ham dinner served from 11-2 pm. Games, bingo and raffles will be throughout the day. Raffle drawing for over $2000 cash and other prizes.
