The St. Mary Parish Chapter of Pax Christi USA is sponsoring food donations to our local food pantries. A basket of this donated food will also be presented during the Offering of the Gifts at all weekend Masses. All are invited to bring non-perishable food products and to place them in the designated basket in the Atrium. Thank you very much for supporting this parish effort for the needy of our community.

All parishioners are invited to the next gathering of St. Mary’s Parish Chapter of Pax Christi USA on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the Atrium. Pax Christi USA commits itself to peace education and, with the help of its bishop members, promotes the gospel imperative of peacemaking and social justice as a priority in the church (www.paxchristiusa.org). Members in cooperation with other groups work toward a more peaceful, just, and sustainable world. There will be a discussion of the U.S. Catholic Bishops’ call for changing U.S. laws and policies to reflect the principles contained in Scripture and Catholic Social Teaching and to bring about a more humane and just immigration system. For more information about our chapter of Pax Christi USA, please contact Ed or Barbara Martinez at (608) 637-8143.

The Book Club will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 24th at 6:30 in the atrium to discuss FAMILY TREE by Barbara Delinsky. Please join us.

Bible Club Update: The Bible Club plans to continue the new 24 part Jeff Cavens video series, "Great Adventure Catholic Bible Timeline" that the club began viewing last fall. The series teaches people the narrative story of the Bible so they can understand the plan of salvation history. The next meeting will be held on Sunday, January 29th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Please sign up in the Atrium today if you plan to participate so that the correct number of workbooks can be ordered.

Valentine Dinner and Dance. Tickets are now on sale in the Atrium before and after all weekend Masses for the St. Mary Parish Valentine Dinner and Dance sponsored by the Joseph Club on February 11. They are priced at $25 each and include dinner catered by Borgen's Cafe and dancing to the live sounds of the Time Travelers. Family and friends are welcome. The PCCW met on Jan. 10 at 2PM. The major part of the meeting involved disbursements of funds. The PCCW can donate to these projects partly because of the funds acquired with the co-operation of the parish members at the dinner. We donate this year to Project Milk $500; TV Masses $250; Casa Hogar $500; Mater Redemptoris convent $200; Birthright $200; Front Door Ministry $500; Mass intentions $120; Seminarians-Taylor Flock and Alan Gruenella $2400 [$100 a month to each]; Vacation Bible school $150; Philippine Mission Participant $360; Scholarship $500; Project Seed $200. We also voted to purchase a new vestment if Father Francis would like one. It was decided to continue with the present way of funding funeral luncheons. Lila Cina discussed the refurbishing o the downstairs bathroom at the rectory. It was painted by Dave Fanta with Sue Fanta and Lila's help. We designated Esther Sullivan as our Woman of Light candidate this year. If anyone has any question or would like to offer suggestions or service in any capacity, pleas contact Patricia Biebl.
