Minutes of the Parish Finance Council Meeting
Thursday 7 April 2011
Rectory Meeting Room

1. Father Cook started the Finance Council Meeting with prayer.

2. The meeting began at 5:oo pm. Present were Father Cook, Chuck Steinhoff, Mike McMahon and Paula Cina. Dale Pertzborn was present via conference call. Teresa Gutenberger and Ray Krause were absent.

3. Minutes of the last meeting, 10 February 2011 were read and approved.

4. Review of the following:
a. Account Transactions for February/March 2011 were read and approved.
b. Monthly Comparisons for February/March were read and approved.

5. Review of the following:
a. Diocesan Annual Appeal
i. Target: $38,906
ii. Pledged: $28,990 (under $9,916)
iii. Cash to date: $25,948.75 (under $12,957.25)
b. Diocesan Capital Campaign 'We Belong to Christ'
i. Target: $246,000
ii. Pledged: $387,671 ($141,671 over)
iii. Cash to date: $327,075.50 ($81,075.50 over)
c. Parish Endowment Trust Fund
i. $70,883.78

6. Capital Improvements and Property Matters
a. Old
i. A bid of $150 to refinish (each) and $25 to install (each) 10 pew ends was received from Gunder Furniture.
ii. Father Cook will call Cousins Concrete about tiling the storage room floor.
iii. Ledeger Roofing will give a bid on replacing missing shingles on the Atrium roof.
iv. Father Cook is still looking for a recliner for his office.
v. The tool shed had water damage this winter and spring. A new garage was suggested. The Joseph Club will be asked to look for bids to build a garage.
b. New
i. C&C Landscaping was contacted about reshaping the lawn in front of the rectory, from the planter to the south of the rectory. C&C Landscaping was also asked about putting tiers in the garden on the south side of the church. An estimate will be sent to the parish.
ii. The beaver system along the east wall of the basement needs to be repaired.
iii. Travis Simpson tested the Terrazzo floor in the church for asbestos. If a slurry removal of the old finish is followed there would be no need to enclose the work area. Mark Baker will begin the removal of the pews will begin on 15 May 2011 following the 10:00 am Mass.
iv. The Art Committee will be contacted about a make over for the pie room in the lower level of the church.
v. Lawnmowers will be ready for mowing after the blades are sharpened and the oil is changed.
7. New Business:
a. The Estate of Nancy Ostrom left St. Mary Parish a donation of $1,600.
b. Dennis Olson's contract for CRE was renewed with a 4% increase in salary.
c. A total of 10 applications for Secretary/Bookkeeper position were received. Of the 10 applications four were chosen to be interviewed the week of 11 April 2011.
d. Discussion on Diocesan Policy on Employee Disclosure of Misconduct was discussed.


The meeting adjourned at 6:20 pm. The next meeting will be 12 May 2011 in the Rectory Meeting Room
