Minutes of the Parish Finance Council Meeting
Thursday 12 May 2011
Rectory Meeting Room

1. Father Cook started the Finance Council Meeting with prayer.

2. The meeting began at 5:oo pm. Present were Father Cook, Chuck Steinhoff, Paula Cina, Dale Pertzborn, Teresa Gutenberger and Sue Olson. Ray Krause was excused and Mike McMahon was absent.

3. Minutes of the last meeting, 7 April 2011 were read and approved.

4. Review of the following:
a. Account Transactions for April 2011 were read and approved.
b. Statement of Activities and Account Reconciliation reports were read and approved.

5. Review of the following:
a. Diocesan Annual Appeal
i. Target: $38,906
ii. Pledged: $30,097 (under $8,809)
iii. Cash to date: $27,479.50 (under $11,426.50)
b. Diocesan Capital Campaign 'We Belong to Christ'
i. Target: $246,000
ii. Pledged: $387,671 ($141,671 over)
iii. Cash to date: $328,422.50($82,422.50 over)
c. Parish Endowment Trust Fund
i. $70,884 (as of 5/9/11)
ii.
6. Capital Improvements and Property Matters
a. Old
i. The church pew restoration has been completed. Ten pew ends require replacement and will be done by mid-summer at an estimated cost of $1750.00.
ii. C&C Landscaping will reshape the lawn in front of the rectory ($3,160.00), and put tiers in the garden on the south side of the church ($4,365.00). The landscaping on the north side of the rectory will be completed at the discretion of Father Cook, Mary, and Sue once the south landscaping is completed, depending on the appearance and symmetry. Landscaping only the south side will reduce the total cost.
iii. Church floor polishing ($8,975.00) will begin once the pews are removed on 5/15/11.
iv. Rewiring for 8 church light fixtures – CRT Electric will proceed ASAP ($1,637.00).
v. Church roof repair – Father Cook will contact Ledegar Roofing again to verify if there is an existing warranty and when they will be able to complete the repairs ($325.00).
vi. Rectory furniture (recliner) – Father Cook is still considering purchasing a new recliner.
vii. Garage-Don Tully made a presentation which included plans and proposals for a new garage in back of the rectory ($28,800.00). A decision was made to defer installing drywall and insulation in the garage to another point in time to reduce the cost of the project. A suggestion was made to also get a bid from contractor/parish member, Keith Yaun.
viii. Beaver System - awaiting information from John Hanson.
b. New
i. Pie room – a decision regarding changes was deferred until fall.
7. New Business:
a. Other - A request from Patt Hansen regarding increased compensation for organists was reviewed. Father Cook researched compensation for similar-sized parishes and recommended that beginning on 1 July, 2011, compensation should be increased to $35.00 per Mass and $15.00 per rehearsal.
b. Budget preparation – recommendations for a new budget for the 2011-2012 fiscal year beginning on 1 July were made. The council requested that when budget preparation is done in future years, a copy of the budgets from the three previous years be made available to aid in determining trends and preparing a more accurate budget.

The meeting adjourned at 6:45 pm. The next meeting will be 13 July 2011 in the Rectory Meeting Room
