Minutes of the Parish Finance Council Meeting
Wednesday 5 May 2010
Rectory Meeting Room

1. Father Cook started the Finance Council Meeting with a prayer.

2. The meeting began at 5:00 pm. Present were Father Cook, Mike McMahan, Chuck Steinhoff, Teresa Gutenberger, Ray Krause, Paula Cina and Dale Pertzborn via conference call.

3. Minutes of the last Finance Council Meeting of 3 March 2010 was read and approved.

4. Review of the following;
a. Account Transactions for March/April 2010 were read and approved.
b. Monthly Comparisons for March/April 2009-10 were read and approved
c. Review of Finances were read and approved.

5. Diocesan Annual Appeal:
a. Target: $35,863.84
b. Pledged: $36,062 ($198.16 over target)
c. Cash to date: $34,597 ($1,266.84 under target)

6. Diocesan Capital Campaign, "We Belong to Christ":
a. Target: $246,000
b. Pledged: $386,966 ($140,966 over target)
c. Cash to date: $267,168.50

7. Parish Endowment Trust Fund:
a. As of 31 April 2010 the market value is$52,874.06

8. Capital Improvements and Property Matters
a. Old:
i. Ultimate Concrete is done with the cement repair needed around the church property.
ii. The Rectory deck and steps have been power washed and stained.
iii. Don Tully contacted Gunder Church Furniture about installing support under the church kneelers. Gunder will get back to Don later because of the work load they are experiencing.
b. New
i. Ed Klos is willing to replace the laminate on the end of some pews in the church. A cost estimate will be needed. Members of the Finance Committee will look at the pews in church that have been recently stained to see if Ed Klos should stain the rest of the pews.
ii. The tiles in the church storage room are getting wet because of the moisture leaking through the cement block walls. Steve Devine, Floor Coating Solutions in La Crosse, suggested cleaning the tiles, installing a sump pump and connecting it to an existing drain. Also, paint the block walls with Dry Lock.
iii. George Franklin suggested that fire resistant dry wall be installed around the furnaces in the storage room. After some discussion the construction of an enclosure around the furnaces the matter was put on hold.
iv. A bid of $2,506 for resurfacing and striping St. Mary Parish parking lots will be considered when a cost including filling the cracks in the parking lots is added to the bid.
v. Dry Lock will be painted on the block walls in the Rectory furnace room to prevent any further damage from water leakage to the walls.
vi. The Rectory roof will need to replace in the next several years.
vii. The budget for 2010/2011 was prepared.
viii. The posts for the Churches Carport need repair.
ix. Two lawnmowers are being tested for the consideration of a purchase.

9. Special Requests:
a. The category 'Other Parish Donations' will be added to the yearly budget. The money in this category, a determined amount, will be used for the sole purpose of donating to causes outside of St. Mary Parish. Considered requests will be discussed yearly at the Finance Council Budget Meeting.
b. A decision was made not to fund the upkeep of the old St. Mary Church.
10. The meeting adjourned at 6:30 pm. The next meeting will be Wednesday 21 July 2010 at 5:00 pm in the Rectory Meeting Room.
